Day 9; Thursday. 5/11

Today started at 7:30 in the morning and I was observing a new procedure. It was the making and placement of a crown in the second to last back moler on the right side. The procedure started with the dentist grinding the tooth so it becomes smoother and has an equal margin to the other teeth so the crown matches the others. Also grinding jt down creates a lip on the tooth making a place for the crown to sit on. Once the tooth is all grinded down, Dr. Bryan put two cords under the tissue to prevent bleeding around the tooth. The next part of this process was to create the crown itself. There's a machine called the cerec, that is how the crown is made. First imaging powder is put around the tooth so the camera can pick up an image of the tooth. Once that has happened, the cerec will design it based on the picture. Then Dr, Bryan puts the crown in the mouth then makes adjustments needed to have a smooth and painless tooth. Once it is adjusted, it is put in a oven to heat and smoothen out and clean the tooth. Next, the tooth is cleaned with silane and porcelain etch, and then cement is put around the tooth and in the crown and put together. Then once the tooth is on, Dr. Bryan takes a mini brush to collect the oozing of the cement. Finally,  the ultra violet is put to the tooth to harden the cement and the drill is taken to remove the extra excess and around the tooth is flossed. The rest of the day was filled with fillings, and I worked 7:30-2:30 with no lunch which counts for 7 hours!
